Bending before I break

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 26, 2011, 1:39 PM
As I mentioned a few weeks back, my attention is scattered right now. I wish this wasn't so but it is.

We are in the midst of buying a new home. All it going well, which is to say it is progressing nicely and in a timely manner. I am packing and making art when I can. It's frustrating to not post more images more often but I bend as far as I can so I do not break. I know that will make sense to a lot of you.

Summer is marching out now and fall is nearly upon us. Things we even out as it eventually and all will right itself.

I will try and post something soon. lest you all think I have wandered off again.

Looking beyond the horizon

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 28, 2011, 11:41 AM
I have been in and out the last two weeks because we decided we have out-grown the house we are living in and we need a new one. Looking for a house is harder than I remember it being. I have lived in this one for 15 years so I guess it's been easy to forget. Searching through hundreds of listings has taken up more time than I am happy about but it is what it is. You have to kiss a lot of frogs until you find your Prince. I am still dealing with the warts!

Needless to say, until the house is chosen and we have settled into it, my presence here will be spotty. Still, I am trying to get new works finished, like the one I submitted today.

I have to admit the flood of unwanted (read 'stupid & useless') comments I have been getting has not helped me want to get back here in a hurry. Some people think they know better and then I look at what they are offering as 'Art' and I just sigh. I see that I might have to make all of my works comment free. That might be the only way I can bear it.

Hint to certain people - just a tiny one - If it says NO CRITIQUE WANTED - then don't critique it. Don't. Just DON'T. If I wanted your thoughts, I'd ask for them. You know who you are.

There. All done. Much love to my friends & watchers.

...then I am reminded

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 14, 2011, 9:35 AM
It is taking a real effort to come back to dA on a daily basis. I am surprised that I came back at all.

I had left this place because I wanted to do different things. That was OK with everyone and it was OK with me. Sort of an unspoken thing, right? I ducked in every couple of months and lurked about but nothing stuck and it was easy for me to duck back out again. Why is that? Well, there is SO MUCH theft here and SO MUCH drama. It really is out of control to the point of being embarrassing.

When I got the urge to come back a few weeks ago to try my hand at it again, I thought, I'll do my 3D and my photography and all will be merry. I might even start a new group...

My main mistake was believing dA was going to be anything other than what it always has been. Stealing & Drama & Hateful judgmental sh*t. This place can be a total mind-fuk if you are even the slightest bit insecure - and who isn't? - about your art.  It can ALSO be a great place to make some virtual friends and get honest and kind feedback about your work and you can't put a price on that... It's a puzzle to be sure and in the 7+ years I have been here, I still have not figured it out.

I was away on Vacation and had to examine what I want out of my artistic life. I know and have ALWAYS known, dA is one of the best ways to get yourself out there and to be seen so I am not pulling a temper fit and running off into the night never to be seen again. I am just going to approach it differently now.

I am going to concentrate on building up :iconblood-and-glitter: - I hope to get at least a hundred members by the end of the summer. I don't know why but 100 seems like a nice fat round number. I would very much like to make it a super group but there are bills to pay and while the membership remains so low, I just don't see a need for it...

Wild wild west

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 9, 2011, 12:28 PM
I am going to visit my beloved Arizona for several days next week so I wont be around. I have NOT gone into hiding again, I am just out of town. I wont be submitting any new art but I might be able to get a photo or two loaded. We'll have to wait and see.

I usually travel with my laptop because I like to check in daily and I need to update certain sites. You may see me, you may not. It depends on whether or not the hotel has Wi-Fi.

Anyway - I plan to eat a lot of waffles and enjoy the Grand Canyon.

Talk to you all when I get back...

Scary robots say join my club!

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 7, 2011, 4:38 PM
I went to see Transformers 3 in 3D and the Decepticons scared me. They have turned into a very loud growling bunch. I guess they have always growled but in some way they seem more serious in 3D. My son and I had a lot of fun. I didn't miss Megan Fox at all which shows how little she actually brought to the franchise.

Anyway, I am off with my husband and son to have dinner tonight with friends. Should be a lovely time.

Happy 4th and Blood and Glitter: OPEN

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 27, 2011, 9:43 AM
I hope all of you ghouls and goblins are having a nice holiday. If you don't celebrate the 4th, I hope you are just having a nice DAY ;)

We have been suffering through thunder storms here since early last evening and now we wait on our seats to see what comes next. I bought a small assortment of fireworks to blow up if weather permits. I look forward to it.

My little chihuahua, Halo, is doing well but she doesn't like the fireworks. The thunder seems to bother her less.

Queen of pee

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 25, 2011, 12:14 PM

Housebreaking my chihuahua is harder than I thought it would be.

I had heard/read horror stories about them being 'uncrate-able' because they suffer from such extreme separation anxiety. It's true. My Chi, Halo, screams like she is being stabbed every time we put her in her create.

This makes for a long night.

We end up putting her in bed with us - which is absolutely the WRONG thing to do - just to get her and us a little sleep.

This solves nothing tho. She sneaks down to the bottom of the bed and pees while we are all a-snooze. I was jolted out of a lovely dream by accidentally putting my foot in a COLD puddle of pee. I don't suppose it would have been any better if it was warm. It was pee after all.

But LOOK at her

She is SO worth it...

Get thee behind me crap laptop

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 24, 2011, 2:55 PM

I am going to get a new laptop soon. I have to. It seems like every time I need this one to do something important, it starts to fall apart on me. It's depressing now that I have an urge to really work.

Oh well. It will unfold as it unfolds. I can't stress because that doesn't help anything. I am just going to go with the flow...

How are you today? Is it hot where you are?

Backward and frontward again

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 14, 2011, 2:40 PM

I guess it's been a long time. Too long. Six months gone. We had a tragic death. Beyond tragic. A life long friend, gone to quickly. One moment she was laughing, the next I was at her funeral. We stood in the bathroom and marveled over her shaved head. May she be in a better place now. May she be without pain.

It has been hard for me to walk up to this plate but I am going to try my best. Look for me if you miss me.

.never thought I'd go this crazy.

:bulletgreen: Yesterday was Miles' last day in the 4th grade. I am sure many of my watchers remember when he had just started school. Time goes by so fast - it's insane. Lots of people have come and gone in our lives since then. I don't feel old but I do feel older. I am sad that there is only one year of elementary school left.

me = :-o

:bulletgreen: We are going to St. George, Utah next week. Just me and Miles and my sister Diane are driving up in my Doom Buggy (also known as the mini-van). We are going to see performances of Tarzan and CATS. I am very interested and kind of excited to see Tarzan but I am dreading CATS a bit. I really don't want to suffer through that 'All alone in the moon light...' crap. It will be a great experience for Miles though. He has never been to Utah and only seen one play. Since we are meeting friends there it should be a lot of wicked, wild, G-rated fun ;)

:bulletgreen: Have been listening to a lot of Mumford & Sons. The Cave. Really intense stuff but melodic and beautiful. If my iTouch hadn't been hacked for $45 dollars worth of apps, I would buy their whole CD for sure. Looks like I am going to have to start a relationship with Amazon.com. Anyone buy from them? Comments always welcome.

:bulletgreen: I am thinking of re-opening the Vampyre Army but I am not sure if anyone is interested and I also can't remember the password. LOL. So yeah. That might be a challenge.

Trying to come back

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 1, 2010, 8:12 AM

I have really missed everyone here and I am doing my best to get in the habit of coming by again every day. Oh I know you have missed me! I have just been - well - busy! Painting and taking photos and moving away from the digital 3D - although I know that makes a few people very sad. But time marches on and so do we. It is important to explore and change and try. I will be doing my best to showcase more paintings and more photography here and stop by my friends pages to comment and say hi.

I do have to say I can't believe how much DA has changed. It all looks good though and I am ready for a new adventure with my old mates :)

"So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:

"Let it be told to the future world ... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive...that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet (it)."

America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations."

Rest in Peace Amy

Head full of lightning and a hat full of rain

Amy is gone. dualdesigns has passed away. She was a friend of mine and this is just such a shock I am without words.

Amy and I made art together and we laughed a lot. She gave me the nickname Lizard. We talked about "pie" until we were nearly sick with hysteria.

She was a good woman. She started Circleoffriends with very little help from me. She was a giver...look around devART and you can find little pieces of her everywhere.

Now she is gone and the world is worse for not having her in it.

I will be in touch and those who need me know where they can find me...

Namaste!

Head full of lightning and a hat full of rain

I know I haven't updated in awhile. Those of you who follow me on FACEBOOK or Twitter know that I scribble about here and there. I haven't been working in Poser much anymore. That is not to say that I have left it behind - I have just wandered away from it got a bit. No worries - if you are worried - because I am sure I will re-discover that passion when the wind blows that way. I will post one when I make one. So there :P

My first love has always been photography & painting and I have returned to that part of my artistic expression. I doubt that I will post much of my work here on devART - not unless it is something I am particularly proud of or something I am looking for specific feed back on.

I became so much of who I am from being on this site. I have met such amazing and talented people. I feel blessed to have known you and been befriended by you. I could never leave here for good, I promise.

To those of you who have actually MISSED me, I am well and Miles and Brett are, too. Miles told me that it is only 48 days until Summer vacation so that is something we all look forward to.

I will be in touch and those who need me know where they can find me...

Namaste! Esté bien!

Yes...I do believe we can...

Bloody words & bitter scars...

"Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah" ~ Leonard Cohen

"Always superfluous bloodshed; the deeper damage is best" ~ Jack Langrishe

"So will I suffer or will I be alright? I look up into the stars, then look down to count my scars and I know mercy" ~ Roger Clyne

"I got every thing you want or need
Your darkest fear, your fondest dream
I ask you questions, tell you lies, criticize and sympathize
Be careful what you wish for friend
Because I've been to hell and now I'm back again ' ~ Steve Earle

"Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." ~ Lewis Carroll

"It's nights like these I feel like giving up
It's nights like these I don't seem to count for much
The beer tastes like blood and my mouth is numb
I can't make the words I need to say
She had a weakness for writers
And I was never that good at the words anyways" ~ Lucero
